Reusing Your Candle Jars

We pride ourselves on offering candles in containers that are reused, recycled, thrifted, or upcycled. But it doesn’t end there! Especially if you’re like me, and love the tea cups and vintage glass pieces. When your candle is done, clean it out to reuse!

Because of the nature of our soy wax, clean up should be fairly easy. You can remove any remaining wax from your jar by using heat or cold. Toss your container in the freezer for a couple hours and your wax should pop out. Placing your candle jar in a shallow bowl or pan of hot water is also quick and effective. Pour your wax out onto a few pieces of paper towel that you can reuse for a fire starter, or simply discard of the wax. Do not pour wax down your drain.

Remove the wick and wick sticker and wash your container in hot soapy water. Any labels or stickers should come off easily with soap and water but soaking the container can help if needed. Goo Gone is also a great product for this.

Now that your candle jar is all bright and shiny like new, here are a few ideas for reusing:

  • Use your tea cups and coffee cups for tea and coffee! Check your cup to make sure there are not any cracks or chips on the inside of the cup. If everything looks good, your container is still safe to use for beverages!

  • Make a planter. Place succulents, herbs, or even dried or faux flowers in your container. You can also add pebbles or crystals.

  • Storage and Organizing! Fill container with paper clips, hair pins, makeup brushes, bathroom essentials, etc.
